On certain cases medical treatrnents cause secondary oral manifestations Timely diagnosis of oral manifestations is useful for the medical treatrnent of the palien! and avoids its discontinuation by complications due to these manifestations A specialized odontopediatrician should be able to diagnose and treat every type of oral conditions associated with a variety of pediatric pathology.
Descripción :	bien el pediatra realiza la valoración inicial y establece el diagnóstico presuntivo del paciente y por supuesto, no puede pasar por alto las manifestaciones bucales que pudiera presentar. Estas manifestaciones bucales pueden indicar signos y síntomas propios de la enfermedad, ser la primera manifestación de la misma o indicar el grado de deterioro sistémico del paciente. Muchas enfermedades tienen manifestaciones bucales por sí mismas (primarias) y que en determinado momento sirven para establecer el diagnóstico diferencial con otras enfermedades, y en ciertas ocasiones los tratamientos médicos producen manifestaciones bucales (secundarias). Además el diagnóstico oportuno de las manifestaciones bucales ayudan al tratamiento médico del paciente y no tener que suspenderlo por complicaciones debidas a estas alteraciones. En el servicio de estomatología se brinda tratam iento a todos estos pacientes por lo que el grado de especialización debe ser superior al odontopediatra común, debe conocer diagnósticos y tratamientos de todas las patologías pediátricas y por supuesto, su injerencia estomatológica.
